Chimera Anniversary + v0.7 Public Release

Happy one year anniversary to Chimera!

A year ago, the game's first preview was released here on itch.io. It had a very bumpy start, with many visual and technical bugs and even some softlocks! But after many updates and hotfixes the game has finally gotten to a point where bugs have been reduced to some typos and wrong character descriptions. Not only has it become a lot more playable, it has grown into something a few people have been looking forward to check out whenever a new update is out.

It was a bumpy year for development but all past mistakes have turned into good experience that helped me get better as a developer. I want to thank everyone who showed enough interest in the game to routinely report bugs and make recommendations for future updates, and I want to specially thank those who have directly supported me through donations and subscriptions. Even though I haven't exactly amassed a fortune, I want you all to know the money has been put to good use helping me settle with my partner!

To commemorate the occasion, I will be releasing version 0.7 publicly today. It might not be the most grand of gifts, but I hope everyone gets some enjoyment from it.

Regarding future updates, I will most likely be releasing a small update later this month and another one in the near future to compliment 0.7, allowing players to finish the current step of the main quest and get into some new trouble in Vaufrid as well. On a side note, I have mentioned before that I wish to put some artwork in the game at some point, complimenting the game's text with images of key locations, characters and scenes. Since I haven't been able to secure a funding to pay an artist a reasonable amount to help me develop this part of the game, I have taken up the task of learning to draw so that I may add artwork to the game myself one day. It will most likely take a few months until I feel confident enough to include my own art in the game, but there is some concrete progress being made toward that goal now!

On another side note, I am aware that some people want the game to be natively supported on Linux and Android. Although I don't have any experience developing for these two platforms, I will make an effort to release native ports for them in the future.

Thank you again to everyone for the various forms of support the past 365 days. Even if the updates are a bit slow, I promise they will still keep coming in the foreseeable future.

Cheers!
