Officially taking a break from development

Hello there everyone. Hope you're all doing alright.

In April 2022 I decided I wanted to try and make a game, just to see how far I could take it. Chimera's first preview was released in July of the same year and despite being a buggy mess it received incredible amounts of support, which helped me not only fix the game but learn a lot about game development.

It was an excellent experience for me and I do not regret a single second I spent working on this game, but things were very different for me in 2022. It was a year full of uncertainty and frustration, but I also had enough free time to be able to work on a passion project like this. Things have started to change and I unfortunately I cannot commit my time to developing the game in a steady pace anymore. Even if I did continue to work on the game, the windows between updates would only start to grow bigger.

In a way , it was starting to become irresponsible of me to put too much time in a passion project which, while I enjoyed working on, wasn't contributing much to my personal life. It's not an easy decision or one I think most people will find agreeable but I am putting Chimera on an indefinite hiatus until I can assert that working on it won't put the rest of my responsibilities in jeopardy.

The game's Ko-Fi has been paused for a while now and I have refunded the last active month to all subscribers, it was only fair. I am very thankful to everyone who ever pitched in a bit of money. While it wasn't  a fortune, I would not be where I am today without the extra bits donated  by some very kind people.

The only thing I can hope for is that the game made someone's day a little better at some point. Thank you all for sticking around. Catch you later.

Passion always take sacrifice. This is something that ive learned over the last couple of years. If you want to pursue the passion project, you just simply need to make time for it. There will never be a 'good' time, as there will always be other things that need doing.
Thats just sadly how it works unless you somehow win the lottery on time management :/

Just heard about the indefinite hiatus and I thought the game was really fun. I hope you come back and continue it one day!!

I'm really sorry to hear this but I fully understand, real life does come first, no matter what. The game has been very fun to keep up with and I suspect will be fun on repeat playthroughs whenever I get a craving for it. I'll keep an eye out for you popping into my feed  again at some point but for now I'll say goodbye!
